Korea upset USA in Shanghai compound mixed team final
Shanghai (CHN) - Saturday, April 26, 2014
With scores level heading into the final end, the States pair let their foot off the gas and opened the door for a Korean compound mixed team gold medal.
“Every arrow had to be perfect,” said Erika JONES, who was shooting with USA partner
Bridger DEATON for the first time.
They were just that, perfect, in the first end. But the highest-scoring archer in the match was shooting for the other team – and it made the difference. With seven 10s out of eight, MIN Lihong drove Korea ahead when it mattered.
Compound men’s world number one Pierre-Julien DELOCHE and Sophie DODEMONT – the Olympic medallist who’s become compound indoor world champion – won bronze over India.
It was good practice for DELOCHE and DEATON, who contest individual medals later in the day.
