Coach SHIN Hyeon Jong from Korea passed away

Lausanne - Friday, October 18, 2013

World Archery is very saddened to learn the passing away of Mr SHIN Hyeon Jong in a hospital in Antalya today.

World Archery has sent its sincere condolences to the Family of Coach SHIN and the Korean Archery Family.

Mr SHIN 54 years old and coach of the Korean compound team, was taken to hospital during the Belek Antalya World Archery Championships two weeks ago. Despite an initial recovery, his state became critical in the last few days and he passed during the day in the hospital.

Mr SHIN was a very successful recurve and compound coach and the success this year of the Korean compound team can be attributed to his dedication. The memory of Coach SHIN will live on through the success of his Athletes and he will be greatly missed. The funeral will be organised as soon as possible in Korea and World Archery will provide more details further on.

The World Archery President, the Executive Board, the World Archery staff and the entire Archery Community send its sincere condolences to his Family, the Korean athletes and officials that were with him in Belek and the entire Korean Archery Federation.
