OH’s in: Olympic Champion will shoot at World Cup Final in Olympic Capital

Lausanne (SUI) - Tuesday, August 19, 2014
London 2012 Olympic Champion OH Jin Hyek accepts invitation to Lausanne; Korea also sending JUNG

There were rumours that Korea would not send any archers to the 2014 Archery World Cup Final. The Korean squad – both recurve and compound – is currently focused on the Incheon Asian Games: one of the largest multisport events in the world.

Olympic Champion OH Jin Hyek, who won last year’s World Cup Final in Paris, will return to defend his recurve men’s title in Lausanne.

The 33-year-old has collected three medals in five World Cup stage appearances since winning the Olympic title, as well as the Paris 2013 gold. He’s collected silver at the last two world championships in a row, and has been part of a dominant Korean recurve men’s team that’s only lost three matches in the last three years.

JUNG Dasomi will also represent Korea at Lausanne 2014. She won the London Archery Classic, the test event for the 2012 Games, before being deselected from the Korean team until 2014.

On her return this year, she won gold at Medellin, her second individual World Cup stage win. (As many as OH.) She came first at Antalya 2011.

The remaining three qualified Koreans – LEE Seungyun, JOO Hyun Jung and CHOI Yong Hee – have declined their Lausanne places and invitations have been issued to the next-highest ranked archers.

Full rosters should be confirmed on Tuesday!
