The course, which ran from 15 to 17 November 2012, was conducted by Charmaine HO, International Judge, and was funded by the Fédération Mauricienne de Tir à l’Arc (FMTA). It was held in the Conference Room of Stadium Germain Comarmond, Bambous. There were 11 candidates (three women and eight men) from both Mauritius and Reunion. Some of the candidates were very new to archery whereas others were already accomplished archers. All the candidates were eager to learn and interacted well.
The media took an interest in the course and an article appeared in the daily newspaper Le Matinel, Port Louis on Saturday, 17 November 2012.
After the three day course on the Saturday afternoon, Charmaine HO was taken to visit two of the local clubs where it was evident that there is a big drive to encourage the growth of archery in Mauritius with many beginners and children being taught.
On Sunday, 18 November 2012, some of the participants had the opportunity of gaining some practical judging experience as well as the correct set up of a field, at an Indoor Competition which was hosted by the FMTA where there were some 57 participants.
Feedback from the participants of the course was great with many of the candidates saying that they had learnt so much and that they now had more clarity. All that remains to be seen is how the candidates fare in the exam.
